LUCID Workshop
Land Use Change
Land use is becoming an increasingly important issue. There is a new “scramble for Africa” where industrialized countries and corporations are buying poor people’s land; in the future climate change might drown densely populated coastal regions; disappearance of ice sheets reveals new treasures and thereby trigger new territorial conflicts; large scale biodiversity losses are expected if climate change continues, etc. etc. This workshop will cover these and related issues under two main headings: what are the issues (day 1) and how can we frame these issues (day 2). The workshop is part of the Research School on Sustainability Science, funded by Formas and the Linnaeus Grant LUCID.
