Webinar: Taking stock of Colombia's peace agreement after five years: How has it affected land use and local communities?
Welcome to an online seminar on land use change in Colombia, co-organised by LUCSUS.
10 panelists have been invited to this seminar to share their work and insights on the current situation in Colombia almost five years after the signing of the peace agreement. We will highlight different issues around land use change and how local communities have been affected by changes in land use since the signing of the peace agreement. The aim is to draw international attention on these issues. While the peace agreement is making slow progress and faces drawbacks due to the political situation and lack of will from the current government to support and advance its implementation, the situation of Colombia’s environment and local communities has deteriorated. For instance, deforestation is rampant as a direct result of the peace agreement.
The seminar is divided into three themes with a lineup of great speakers who will give a short presentation followed by a 10 minutes Q & A after each session. After the three sessions, there is time for a larger Q & A.
The seminar will be held in English.
This event is part of the EPICC and Nature of Peace project.
