PhD Programme

LUCSUS PhD candidates come from different disciplinary backrounds within the field of sustainability. The research undertaken by the PhD candidates is diverse, often focusing on comprehending and addressing sustainability challenges such as climate change, climate adaptation, biodiversity loss, and land use change.

A PhD in Sustainability Science at LUCSUS means developing expertise in critical thinking and real-world problem-solving in a creative, interdisciplinary, and collegial international atmosphere.

LUCSUS has graduated nearly 20 PhDs in Sustainability Science since 2008. From 2008- 2018, PhDs at LUCSUS were part of the MISTRA-financed LUCID program.

PhD positions at LUCSUS are announced in connection with specific programs, such as the Agenda 2030 Research School at Lund University, or research projects funded through grants led by senior researchers at LUCSUS, who supervise PhD students.
