Jens Christiansen
Postdoctoral fellow
Jens Christiansen joined Lund Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS) in 2024 as a postdoctoral researcher in ecological economics and is part of the Mistra Biopath research project. As part of Mistra Biopath, Jens conducts research on the intersections between finance and the natural environment in an age of mass extinction. How, in other words, do financial institutions respond to extinction risk and which financial innovations emerge in an attempt to mitigate ecosystem degradation? In researching these questions, Jens has covered several empirical issues and financial instruments, including ecosystem-based insurance and adaptation, thematic bond issuances, development finance and the role of the state. Jens holds a PhD in Economic Geography from Lancaster Environment Centre, which focused on environmental finance in ocean economies.
