About DevRes 2024
Practical Information
Lund University is based in the city of Lund, close to Malmö (Sweden’s third largest city) in the south of Sweden. This part of Sweden is very close to Copenhagen in Denmark. Here you will find all the practical information you need to make your stay in Lund and at DevRes 2024 as pleasant as possible.
Lund is located on the main railway line from Malmö to several different destinations such as Berlin, Oslo, Stockholm and Gothenburg. It takes approximately 12 minutes to travel between Malmö and Lund by the local trains Öresundståg and Pågatåg – schedules for both types can be found on Skånetrafiken’s website. Tickets are available from ticket machines or the Skånetrafiken app.
The closest international airport to Lund is Copenhagen Airport (also known as "Kastrup"), in Denmark. The journey time by train from the airport to Lund is about 40 minutes. The journey takes you over the Öresund Bridge connecting Denmark to Sweden and via Malmö central station where you may need to change trains.
Train tickets can be purchased from the Skånetrafiken ticket machines in the arrivals hall at Copenhagen Airport, near the escalators going down to the train platform. You can pay using a debit/credit card, and if you buy a ticket all the way to Lund, the ticket will be valid even if you need to change trains at Malmö central station. You can also download the Skånetrafiken app and pay for the ticket in the app.
Make sure to always bring a valid passport or ID-card when travelling between Denmark and Sweden.

About DevRes 2024
Growing polarization in the world is hampering our efforts and ability to collectively reach the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The ongoing war in both Ukraine and Gaza is leading to shifting power balances and changed political priorities for many countries, with international development cooperation increasingly being sidelined.
Current wars in combination with the aftermath of the pandemic are also impacting the global economy, hitting countries in the Global South particularly hard. In addition, accelerating climate change and biodiversity loss pose challenges for individuals and policy makers alike, calling for a green transition and new solutions for energy, transport and food. This transition risks exploiting already vulnerable natural resource areas and groups of people and creates conflicts of interest where different values and goals are set against each other, not least in relation to international development cooperation.
Swedish research with a focus on least developed countries and lower middle-income countries has in this respect a direct and important function to fulfill. By using interdisciplinary methods and approaches researchers can identify, investigate and describe how these tensions and conflicts of objectives affect an equitable global sustainable development.
DevRes in Lund 2024 aims to bring together Swedish affiliated researchers working in fields linked to development and sustainability to discuss these challenges but also highlight how research directly contributes towards reaching Agenda 2030.
