Writing and publishing a high-impact scientific paper
Content may well be king, but the value of presentation cannot be underestimated for ensuring that a scientific paper is read, understood, and eventually has an impact.
This seminar will provide tools for shaping a clear and coherent scientific narrative that conveys the rationale, approach, outcomes, and significance of research. Specifically, it will use simple templates and examples to discuss best practices for developing key sections of a paper.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion on strategies for publishing in highly selective journals by considering journal choice and expectations, the roles of editors and peer reviewers, and editorial processes.
Speaker: Dr Ninad Bondre, Senior Topic Development Editor (Sustainability), Cell Press
Ninad Bondre helps develop the sustainability-relevant journals and partnerships at Cell Press, and he is also a consulting editor for One Earth and Cell Reports Sustainability. Previously, he has held editorial and advisory positions with the
Nature portfolio (he was a founding editor of Nature Geoscience) and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences among others. Although his academic background is in the geosciences, Ninad has worked closely with natural and social scientists as well as humanists, and he has written on diverse issues such as the Anthropocene, capitalism, and post-truth.
This is an open seminar, organised by Lund University Centre for Sustainability Studies (LUCSUS). No registration needed!
