Michael Reck
Project assistant
Michael Reck is a research assistant at LUCSUS. His current work is exploring im/mobility in a changing climate shedding light on communities who are unable – or unwilling – to move despite negative effects on their environment.
He holds a bachelor`s degree in “Management of Renewable Energies” from Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences and a master's degree in “Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science” from Lund University. His master’s thesis delved into climate activism, particularly analysing coalition-building efforts to preserve the village Lützerath. Other than that, his research interest lay in the fields of loss and damage and studies of environmental social movements.
Before joining LUCSUS, he contributed to renewable energy projects in India and Togo working with an environmental NGO and the German Development Cooperation GIZ. Currently, he is also engaged at an agroecological farm between Lund and Malmö working towards a sustainable agricultural practice connecting people with the land.
