After Sara Brogaard attended the event "Art meets Science" (organized by LUCSUS in 2018) she started to discuss a collaboration with the composer Claus Sörensen.  Through a financial contribution from Region Skåne they were able to start a collaboration, which resulted in the concert  "Musik för klimatet" (Music for the climate).

The concert had its premiere at naturum vattenriket in Kristianstad last week and will be presented at the Pufendorf Institute during Kulturnatten i Lund (the culture night in Lund) on Satuday 21 September.

The concert will present a selection of important approaches and results in research on climate and sustainability, interpreted for the XL Big Band by the composer Claus Sörensen.

– The amount of exciting and important research in this field, ranging from psychology and humanities to medicine, technology and science is enormous. We made a first selection of the research material, based on importance and relevance. After discussing the different themes we settled for the ones we felt would create a feeling and carry a story to the listeners, says Sara Brogaard.

The concert Musik för klimatet begins with a playback of the temperature increase in the last 500 years, and a piece about the so-called "hockeystick Curve". It is followed by a piece illustrating the tragedy of the Commons – where a harmonious melody soon breaks into chaos when a resource is overexploited by too many users who act in their own interest. Finalizing with 3 pieces illustrating three future scenarios that climate research uses to model different possible worlds and related emission levels. So-called Share Socio-economi Pathways (SSPs). 

– We want the audience to go home with a feeling that we will manage this and end up with "Sustainability – the Green Road", says Sara Brogaard.
